Mel trained at The Arts Institute Bournemouth and continues with Robin Child. She works mostly in acrylic and often includes drawn line in her work. She is inspired by the coastal path on which she lives and paths and ways in general. She works in bold shapes and likes to bring drama and contrast to her work more often using a limited palette. Her work is abstract or semi abstract and she likes to push the boundaries of possibility creating intrigue for the viewer.
