Helen Theobald
I work as a painter and tutor, and am an elected member of Bath Society of Artists. I have exhibited in galleries in London and the South of England for many years, and paintings are now in private and corporate collections in many parts of the United Kingdom, including the collections of the Bank of England and Hampshire County Council.

I was born in Wiltshire, and the standing stones and chalk horses of the Downs and Plain still appear in my paintings. I now live near the sea, every day a witness to its destructive power. I frequently paint old buildings and sheds which have attempted to stand against it.

Acrylic paint gives me the maximum scope for experiment, combining it with oil pastel, inks, charcoal, and collage. Paintings often take many months to emerge in their final form, as shapes and colours are changed and layered to create rich surface textures.
